W. R. Richards
W. R. Richards was an American football coach in the United States.
Coaching career
Richards was the head college football coach for the Coast Guard Bears located in New London, Connecticut. He held that position for 4 seasons, from 1926 until 1929.[1] His coaching record at Coast Guard was 7 wins, 17 losses and 3 ties. As of the conclusion of the 2010 season, this ranks him #11 at Coast Guard in total wins and #10 at the school in winning percentage (.315).[2]
Richards was the head coach of the first victory of the football program at the Academy, a 45–0 victory over the Harvard junior varsity team.[3]
